Easter weekend 2011

Life keeps on flowing. We're spending our time with Amber's cousin and her family on this Easter weekend. They rented a beach house in Corolla, NC, on the Outer Banks (OBX). It's a nice break from our normal life.

The Wright brothers' first flight in a powered, heavier-than-air vehicle took place on the Outer Banks on December 17, 1903, at Kill Devil Hills near the seafront town of Kitty Hawk. Corolla is about 25 miles north on the Barrier spit. At Kitty Hawk, we walked around the Wright Brothers National Monument, which commemorates the historic flights. Someday, it would be nice to land at First Flight Airport, the small, general-aviation airfield located here. For a pilot, that would make a nice memory.

  1. We'll be watching your blog to hear about when you land there!

  2. It is kind of sad to think what is about to happen to that area. Kitty Hawk/Nags Head is going to take the brunt of Hurricane Irene.
